Why should I learn Music Theory?

Learning music theory is important because it helps you understand how music works. This makes it
easier to play, create, read, and write music. You could even become a songwriter!

Plus, it helps with skills like thinking critically, math, and solving problems, which are useful in many
parts of life. Our classes are also a great way to meet other kids who love music! And for adults, a
great community to network with likeminded music lovers.

How long are classes?
  • Instrument Lessons: These are 30 minutes long. Your teacher will help you with techniques,
    songs you’re practicing, and give you homework.
  • Music Theory Classes: These group lessons last 1.5 hours and are held on Saturdays or
    Sundays.
  • Language Club: This class is 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
What happens after I book my first lesson?
  • For Instrument Lessons:
    • After you choose your day, time and make payment, you will receive a welcome
      email with a link to your enrolment form.
    • Complete student details and confirm your booked day and time. Your lessons will
      be on the same day and time each week.
    • Follow the instructions on the form – First Book suggestions and any necessary
      equipment for your lessons. We provide products right here for your convenience.
    • Once we receive your submitted enrolment form. Your assigned teacher will contact
      you within 48 hours preferably by email.
    • Your new teacher will arrange your start date. You can talk with your teacher to
      decide when to start. Your teacher will ask if you have bought your instrument and
      when it will arrive.
    • Your teacher will send you a Zoom invitation link 24 hours before your lesson.

Lesson Time

  •  Make sure to sign in on Zoom at least 5 minutes before your lesson. It is best to use a tablet,
    notebook, or computer for your lessons.
  • Please point your camera at your instrument so your teacher can see what you are doing.

NOTE:

Online students receive a visit from a teacher once every 8 weeks for quality checks. The teacher will check that the student is using the right techniques to prevent bad habits.

  • For Music Theory Classes:
    • After you choose your course and make payment, you will receive a welcome email
      with a link to your enrolment form. Courses begin on fixed dates throughout the
      year.
    • Complete student details and confirm your booked Grade and time. Your lessons
      will be on the same day and time each week.
    • Follow the instructions on the form – You will need a book for your classes. You can
      easily purchase the required book from this website for your convenience.
    • Once we receive your submitted enrolment form. Your teacher will contact you
      within 48 hours preferably by email. You will be notified of your course start date
      and relevant details on how to prepare.

Example: If the next course starts in November and a student books in October, the student will
be enrolled in the November course and will start in November.

What qualifications do we get?

When you complete your music lessons, you can earn qualifications that are important for further
education in many subjects, not necessarily music related.

  • TQT: This means “Total Qualification Time,” which is how many hours you need to study to
    pass the exam.
  • UCAS Points: These points help you get into university in the future.

Each grade you complete can earn you points, which add up over time.
